Sketching Haptics Workshops

I am currently a PhD student at Umeå Institute of Design (UID) in Umeå, Sweden. My research interests relate to Interaction Design, Haptic and Kinetic Design, Multi-Modal Interfaces, Design Tools and Processes and Craftsmanship. My work-in-progress title for my thesis is Simple haptics: sketching tools for haptic Interaction Design.

When I am not traveling for seminars and conferences, I split my time between UID's Design Research Group and the Interactive Institute Umeå.

I started my doctoral studies in the Fall of 2007 and plan to graduate in 2012. My advisors are Daniel Fällman (Interactive Institute Umeå) and Bill Buxton (Microsoft Research).

I am passionate about teaching, open learning environment, learning by doing, and collaborative activities across disciplines. I have been teaching for over 17 years in various pursuits: ski monitor, photography courses, teaching assistant and tutoring in CAD/3D modeling, Design Methodology, and Design Ethnography classes just to name a few.

Since 2007 I had the chance to coordinate, teach and evolve a major course in the Interaction Design Masters program at Umeå Institute of Design. The cousre is titled Experience Prototyping and embraces various forms of making (from non-tech to the latest advances in technology) to bring design ideas to life. My recent teaching activities, all done at the Masters level, span various aspects of Interaction Design:
