Power is fed from the top and bottom support wires.
Building the module
The circuitry is simple but when scaled to 16 units, it ended up with a lot of taping and soldering.

A rough video showing the parts colliding, blinking and making the intended noise.
The paper covers have three functions. They act electrical insulators between the modules. They also add vertical volume to the modules. Lastly they make nice sound when moved or stroked.
