Sketching Haptics Workshops

A series of workshops focusing on the exploration of how Design and Haptics come together. The workshops are part of my PhD work in Design Research at Umeå Institute of Design.

October 2010, Umeå Institute of Design, Umeå, Sweden
November 2010, Chalmers University, Gothenburg, Sweden
August 2011, University of British-Columbia, Vancouver, Canada
October 2011, Umeå Institute of Design, Umeå, Sweden

The week long workshops explore the meeting point of Design and Haptics, and probe various ways design students can quickly evolve interfaces that actively engage with our sense of touch. The workshops are very hands-on. Participants are invited to envision and sketch various haptic ideas rapidly. Participants are expose to various prototyping tools, mediums and approaches, from non-tech to high-tech, to build evocative and explorative haptic hardware sketches.
